Community Outreach Highlights

Our Emergency Medicine team has been actively engaged in community outreach this season, demonstrating a strong commitment to service beyond the walls of the hospital. Fellows represented the department by teaching hands-only CPR at the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk and Hard Hats with Hearts events. Through hands-on instruction and one-on-one engagement, they helped equip community members with the knowledge and confidence needed to respond quickly and effectively in the event of a cardiac emergency.

In the continued spirit of giving and collaboration, the department also partnered with the OB Emergency Room nursing team to support the Salvation Army Angel Tree Program. Together, teams adopted both elders and children in need, providing gifts and spreading joy during the holiday season. These outreach efforts reflect the department’s dedication to community health, teamwork, and compassionate care—values that remain at the heart of Emergency Medicine at UMMC.
